pH Balance

 

What is the body's pH?
pH (power of hydrogen) is a measure of acidity or alkalinity of a substance, which takes numerical values from 0 (maximum acidity) through 7 (neutral) to 14 (maximum alkalinity). The blood, urine, saliva, digestive juices, mucus, and the fluids inside and outside the body’s cells each have an optimum pH level.
The ideal blood pH is slightly alkaline, with a normal range of 7.35 to 7.45. Anything above that is alkaline, and anything below is considered acidic, both result in symptoms of disease. If the pH moves below 6.8 or above 7.8, the cells of the body stop functioning and the human will die. Consequently, the body continually struggles to maintain its ideal pH.

How does pH imbalance effect our body?
The pH level of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. The entire metabolic process depends on an alkaline environment. When we ingest too many acidic or acid-producing foods, excess acid corrodes tissues and organs and leads to illness. Furthermore, acid also provides a favourable environment for harmful bacteria and other micro organism that can damage glands and organs.

In other words, over-acidification will interrupt cellular activities and functions. It is the root of all sickness and disease. And it is also what causes overweight: to protect itself from potentially serious damage, the body creates new fat cells to store the extra acid.


What should we do if our pH is unbalanced?
The key to restoring our body to its ideal pH is to create the proper balance of alkaline and acid forming foods. As our body's pH level is slightly alkaline, our diet should also reflect this. Therefore, we should ingest at least 75% of alkalizing foods, like green vegetables, and never more than 20-25% of neutral and acidifying foods (if you can not resist).
Eating foods that are alkalizing transforms our body’s balance from dangerously acidic to slightly above neutral. As the acidic environment is eliminated, there will be no need for new fat cells to form. Furthermore, the fat in our body is no longer needed, and literally melts away.
When we achieve pH balance, our body naturally drops to its healthy weight, our food cravings will diminish and our energy levels will increase immensely.
