To really give our body what it needs, nutritionists say we need a minimum of five servings of vegetables a day, EVERYDAY!

Unfortunately, reality is far away from that. There is no way our busy lifestyles allow us to take that much care of our nutrition.

The result is the over-acidification (acidosis) of our bodies. All food we eat affects our pH scale. When we drink and eat acidic food, like burgers, sandwiches or coffee, our bodies are struggling to maintain its pH balance at 7.356. Indicators are not only overweight and underweight, but also fatigue, skin problems and allergies.

The key to restoring our body to its ideal pH is to create the proper balance of alkaline and acid forming foods. As our body's pH level is slightly alkaline, our diet should also reflect this. It should therefore never consist of more than 25% of acid forming foods, which are for example meat, seafood, yeast products, milk, sweets, and drinks like alcohol, soda and coffee. Put more alkaline forming foods on your plate, like vegetables, sprouts, seeds, tomatoes or avocados.

As you change your nutrition to an alkalizing diet, you will be able to alkalize and energize your body back to health: you will not only see but also feel the difference. An Alkaline Diet, also called an acid-alkaline diet, is a diet which is approximately 80% alkaline producing and 20% acid producing. The theory behind this diet is that the pH produced by our diet should reflect the pH level of our bloodstream, which is approximately 7.36, and that if it does not, the pH of our bloodstream may be disrupted. Young claims that health depends primarily on proper balance between an alkaline and acid environment - as when our bodies become too acidic, our bodies will take whatever action necessary to regulate the acid-alkaline balance of the blood. Acidosis is an increased acidity (i.e. an increased hydrogen ion concentration). If not further qualified, it refers to acidity of the blood plasma. Generally, acidosis is said to occur when arterial pH falls below 7.35, while its counterpart (alkalosis) occurs at a pH over 7.45.
